Eastern Cancer Hospital will be formally operational from Tuesday

 The Eastern Cancer Hospital established with the aim of providing state-of-the-art treatment facility in Birtamod will be formally operational from next Tuesday. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the hospital on the same day.

Chief Executive Officer of the hospital Durga Prasai told a press conference today that all preparations have been completed for the inauguration. He informed that famous actress Manisha Koirala, famous actors Madan Krishna Shrestha and Haribansh Acharya will be present at the ceremony.


The hospital has been in operation since last year. B&C Hospital and Eastern Cancer Hospital are in the same premises. A total of Rs 600 crore has been invested for the 300-bed hospital, said Prasai. Director of B&C Hospital Prof Dr Umesh Sharma said that Eastern Cancer Hospital is a model hospital of the country. He informed that Nepalis will not have to go abroad now as there will be complete treatment of cancer including radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery.

The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment including abdominal scan, MRI and CT scan, which are considered important in cancer treatment, said Pramish Giri, public relations officer of the hospital.
