Noble brain surgery using binoculars and navigation

Biratnagar. Nobel Teaching Hospital uses binoculars and navigation to perform brain surgery. Considered a pioneer in the use of state-of-the-art equipment, Nobel uses binoculars and navigation for standard treatment. Dr. Prakash Kafle, a senior neurosurgeon at Nobel, said that brain tumors, brain haemorrhages, hydrocephalus and other surgeries were performed through binoculars and navigation. "The location of the problem can be easily detected through navigation, and it is easy to operate through binoculars by making a small hole," says Dr. Kafle. "This operation does not require opening much of the head, but opens a small part easily."

According to Dr. Kafle, in the absence of binoculars and navigation, many parts of the head have to be opened for surgery. However, when operating through binoculars, even large operations can be performed from a small area, so the patient is comfortable. Some operations are performed by inserting binoculars through the nostrils. Doctors say that the patient does not get injured during the operation by inserting binoculars through the nose and the patient recovers quickly.

Nobel has operated a state-of-the-art neurosurgery service in Southeast Asia for the first time since 2073. Nobel has state-of-the-art equipment including O-arm, i7 navigation system, Pantero 900 3D HD microscope, 3 Tesla intraoperative functional MRI, neuro endoscope with robotic arm. Due to the state-of-the-art equipment and skilled physicians, Nobel has been able to perform complex and rare surgeries successfully.
